Job Profiles : Formica

JOB NAME: Formica Corporation (Evendale, Ohio)
JOB TYPE: Steam Plant Watertube Boilers

The Formica Corporation was faced with an aging coal fired steam plant that was expensive to operate and had emission and reliability issues as well.

Stoermer-Anderson, Inc. supplied three (3) Nebraska “D” Type Watertube Boilers, rated at 60,000 lb/hr. steam delivery. In addition to the boilers, economizers and blowdown systems were provided.

The project also included a solid fuel fired boiler to utilize the scrap from the production process as fuel to reduce consumption of natural gas and fuel oil. The scrap is stored in a silo before it is introduced to the boiler for fuel. A separate power house was constructed for the new boilers, softeners, and auxiliary equipment, vastly improving working conditions and allows boiler operators to monitor and control steam production from the new control room.
